Food Options at Rethinking Everything 2015
There are three main options for food at the conference; (1) bring your own, (2) purchase a salad bar or (3) “order and pay as you go” from our A La Carte area.
Whether you bring your own or purchase something, we ask that attendees respect the Leave No Trace principal. Please be mindful of what you bring, pick up after yourselves and recycle and reuse whenever possible. It will help with logistics, respect the comfort of all and demonstrate a stewardship of the grounds and our planet.
(1) Bringing your own
The rooms at the 4H Center are not equipped with a refrigerator, but you are welcome to bring your own mini-fridge or cooler and pack food and snacks for you and your family.
There are two x (2) four-burner stoves with standard ovens available to share. One is in Cabe Hall and the other in Feland Hall. Kitchens are likely to be busy so, please plan accordingly. Both kitchens also have 4-5 long (4’x8′) tables for food prep and dining.
Grills are allowed in the outside areas as long as there is no fire ban. Please check with us as the dates get closer.
(2) Salad Bar Meal Plan
The 4H center offers a soup and salad bar meal plan this year. Available for three meals a day, it’s open at the following times:
Breakfast: 7:30am – 9:00am daily
Lunch: 11:30am – 1:00pm daily
Dinner: 5:00pm – 6:30pm daily
Times subject to change so please see the final schedule at conference time.
(Sorry, the salad bar option is now closed for 2015 since the organics had to be pre-ordered)
The soup and salad bar is unlimited per person. Each person will need a wristband. No sharing please. The 4h is working to bring us fresh food and quality service. They are working with their purveyors to increase the number of organics available. Below is an example of the type of items you will find, but, please note, the 4H may change the menu at any time:

The salad bar will include one vegetarian soup daily. A final menu will be made available closer to the event.

(3) A La Carte dining
Our intention is to provide flexibility in your dining options so, we are creating food stations such as; soup, smoothie, grill and home-made goods. These areas can provide sustenance for the entire stay or you may use them to augment your own supplies, a meal plan, or simply snack. A brief description of each is below:
What’s better than smoothies for breakfast, right? Visit this station and get fresh raw goods blended into delicious smoothies made in front of you. Prices are $5-6 per smoothie. (Note, we are currently looking for a volunteers to help with this station.)

Prices vary from $3-6. Available at lunch & dinner only. This a cash only option so, please plan to “pay as you go.”

We are bringing in 2-3 food vendors this year. While their food trucks will not be on site they will be making daily deliveries. The company names, links to their sites and menus will be posted here soon.
Home-Made Goods Station
Bring treats from home and offer them up for sale. This “bake-sale” type atmosphere is perfect for granola, dehydrated goods, dried fruits, sweet treats and other goodies. Plan to bring your favorite goods and sell, trade or gift them to the tribe. Please remember, kitchen space is limited and in high demand, so try to make these goodies at home or plan to be flexible.
- All three salad bar meals are served in the dining hall this year not it the kitchen area.
- The soup and salad bar is all you can eat, but please refrain from sharing
- The breakfast bar consists of lots of extra fruit and breads.
- All meals include access to unlimited juice and soft drinks which, will only be served in the kitchen area this year.
- A coffee and tea station is open to all, with or without a meal plan, and will also be served in the kitchen area.
- The drink station(s) is only open during meal times this year, and, as noted above, will only be available in the kitchen area.
